Around 11 p.m. last night Tiegan's second line was pulled because of a red line and some irritation around the site where it was inserted. Blood was drawn to check for a possible new infection and a peripheral IV was added for him to continue to get his supplemental nutrition. His feeding went up to 4 cc/hour yesterday, and this morning it was suspended for 2 hours to make sure his little belly distention (1 cm increase) was not related to any digestion problems. The surgical team is happy with the look and feel of the belly so the feeds were restarted a few minutes ago.
We will wait for the blood tests and the team will decide what the next steps will be during morning rounds.

That "two steps forward, one step back" analogy you gave a few days ago rings true again...that means the next step is forward again! Love, Jill & Erik
