990 grams tonight, approaching the psychologically important 1kg mark. The surgeons have decided, though, that they want to give his intestines more time to mature before testing them with food and told Karen this morning that they'll probably wait a couple of weeks. We don't yet understand what caused the strategy shift, but we're assured that everything continues to look good other than "slow motility", i.e., no pooping. The intestines look fine on the x-rays and his belly is soft, which seems to be one of the factors they're most concerned about. ("Rock-hard abs" apparently NOT cool in the preemie world.)
