While still revelling his the wonderful growth news from yesterday (we did learn that the doctors hope for a gain of 300 grams in 3 weeks, on average, so over 400 grams in 2 weeks has them baffled) he still did not have enough variance in his heart rate on the NST this morning, so a BPP has been ordered.
We have a small list of what will trigger delivery:
- no reactivity on the NST (as opposed to low/moderate reactivity which triggers a BPP)
- a score of 6/8 or lower on the BPP
- low amniotic fluid level (below 5)
BL will more than likely be delivered by c-section but we are hoping that it will not be a situation where it has to be an emergency c-section. The anesthesiologists would like 6 hours from the time that it is decided that it is delivery day until the actual delivery starts to clear my stomach in case of a need for intubation.
